Most of albertas' fall leaves are golden yellows and oranges, but we do get reds. The reds tend to be in the lower bushes and short shrubs.
I love to capture these vibrant reds on sunny days. The colours are revealed when the chlorophil (green) disappears into the roots of the tree to be used again in the spring. The chickadee adds the perfect touch to the scene. They are tiny, little friends who welcome us into the forest.
